"The staff opens up one handed which is great. The holster does it's job decently. Id prefer if the holster loop was closer to the top and that the buckle was lower in the loop. The cord was immediately removed and replaced with a gear retractor that pulls the staff to my side when I need to drop it. If it shipped with an actual retractor I'd give it 5 stars."

"I have used SIMMS wading staffs for years. After receiving this one it went straight back to the vender. I will purchase the regular wading staff instead. First the carbon fiber was flawed, had two spots where the finish bubbled up. Second, its just two hard to unfold and fold back up. If you adjust the length longer the handle protrudes too far in the case so every time you put it away you have to change the length to get it to its smallest size. When you fold it out there's no feeling of it "clicking" in to place, you have to fiddle with each section to seat them. When you fold it up you have to push buttons for both sections, then adjust the length to fold it to its smallest size. I also feel like I have to put the internal cable into situation where I put an unnatural amount of force on it to fold the sections. I constantly fold my staff out and break it down and this one is just too many steps. The hand leash came twisted. Of the SIMMS staffs I have bought, the 10 year old one was the best, each new iteration has been not quite as good. It feels like some SIMMS product MBA says, "OK we have to raise the price of the product, so we'll add a few changes as features to justify/sell to the customer" rather than incrementally improving the product based of feedback and experience. One other thing, it is nice that the zinger is part of the product. However its hard attached to the holster. The zinger will need to be replace if you often used the staff. There's no way to do it without buying a whole new staff."
