"Pretty, easy grip, sharp. NOT effective for threading size 18 & 20 flies with 5x tippet! AND same for eye needle; Very effortful lining eye with needle…way more work than it should be. Don’t waste your money. Get a $14 nipper and (if needed) a pair of flip down magnifiers, then nothing will be in the way for what you want to do."
Amazing nippers!
"Awesome nippers! These nippers have so many useable features like a Leatherman Tool! Holds fly well for tieing your knot. Cleans hook eye well! Like the fact that the blades can be replaced and not have to be thrown away annually and new ones purchased due to me fishing through the whole year!"
Bad steel
"I want to give these nippers five stars because I love the design in every respect, especially the built-in threader. But after only TWO MONTHS of use, my nipper blades were completely pitted (see photo) I never used them to cut anything more substantial than 3X tippet. Most of what I use is 6X and I have had to replace my Simms with a $3 pair of nippers that have worked fine ever since. There is really no excuse to get it so wrong on the blades."
Useless for cutting tippet
"I bought these because of how impressed I was with the tool for threading tippet through small hook eyes. It's a great design but the blades are awful. They became pitted after only a month of fishing cutting nothing but 5X tippet. The other reviews also note how bad the blades are. Simms should refund anyone who asks but so far I haven't heard back."
Took twenty years off my game
